    Head Instructor

    Calvin holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a Purple Belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As the founder of the CMFA program, his desire is to see many people benefit in whatever way they need from the group- whether new-found Christian fellowship, physical fitness, self-confidence and/or spiritual support (hopefully all of the above!).

    Calvin teaches most of the adult classes available from the CMFA and oversees the other programs.

  • Brandon Colvin

    Instructor

    Brandon has been training in various martial arts (including Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga and Muay Thai) over the years. He holds a Purple Belt in BJJ. He has also been teaching classes with the Christian ministry Karate for Christ for many years and is well equipped to instruct the CMFA Dragon Slayer program in an effective and Christ-like manner. Brandon leads all of kids and youth classes offered by CMFA and will occasionally teach an adult class.

  • Liz Fawcett

    Instructor

    Liz holds a Purple Belt in BJJ and has been training for the past 7 years. Liz is our main instructor for the women's self defence class and has a real passion for getting women on the mats, in whatever shape or form!

  • Professor Chad Laprise

    Chad is a retired professional mixed martial artist who competed as a Welterweight for the UFC and was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia tournament and has also formerly competed for Bellator. He also holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Chad serves the community as a police officer and will be heading up our No-Gi class on Thursdays (he will teach every other Thursday with one or two of our blue belts teaching on the off week).

  • Professor Dave Dominy

    Visiting Professor

    David is well known in Canada as a distinguished instructor and holds a 4 th degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He graciously oversees the belt grading of our students and provides yearly seminars for CMFA students as well.
